About Us
Welcome to The Ebenezer Gallery
Art Gallery & space to hire! We are located within the repurposed 18th Century Ebenezer Chapel in the heart of Cefn Mawr. The Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site Visitors Centre & our very own Climate Crisis Mitigation Centre. Oh, and we have a coffee, fine ales & wine bar too! What more could you want!
Who Are We
We are part of the Plaskynaston Canal Group and are currently run by a small number of volunteers. The owner of our building also owns The Holly Bush Inn, just across the square.
Our volunteers have various backgrounds including artists, makers and educators of all kinds.
We are currently privately funded but have applied for a CIC to enable us to put on even more free and fun activities.
Our Mission
To put our village on the tourist map! Cefn Mawr is at the centre of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Most of the stone that the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct was made from actually came from our village. We are 1000 metres away from the aqueduct and yet we see hardly any of the tourist trade. We are here to change that.
We also provide workshops, classes and activities for the local community and to make Cefn Mawr a thriving cultural hub once again. Our post industrial village was paramount to the building of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and our main issue remains the Economic Regeneration of our community while also providing local residents with free access to artistic and cultural events.
